Gear Guide

When shopping online for outdoor gear, it's sometimes hard for a customer to know where to start. I noticed that the gear experts at Rocky Mountain Trail fielded a ton of questions from shoppers, pointing them in the right direction, either on a live chat or on the phone. Wanting to reduce the volume of questions the gear experts had to field, I asked them to compile a progression of questions they most frequently ask the customer. I built a tool around those progressive questions.

Completely generated by XML, the tool makes it easy to switch out products and questions as the gear experts need. The tool can also be used as a gift guide during the holidays. Based on the answers to each question, a list of suggested products is displayed.

Google tracking is used to monitor the tool (after all, what good is a tool that directs customers to a product if you can't track it?).

LSO's (locally shared objects) are used to save the customer's list of products should they want to go back and look at the list at a later date. The LSO's are cleared when the customer starts a new search.
